Past special events include:
PARKASANA – the yoga picnic. Yoga and food in Queen’s Park, Glasgow. All proceeds from the picnic were donated to social enterprise Milk Cafe.

YOGA FOR RUNNERS – two workshops at Fitforit PT targeted specially for runners – recovery, crosstraining and practices to upskill runs.

AUCHTERARDER RETREAT 2019 -my first retreat in Perthshire took place in August 2019 – 4 days, 6 classes, including strong vinyasa, meditation, yin and slow flow, and yoga nidra. Nourishing vegan and vegetarian food, walks in the beautiful local surroundings, essential oils, fires and lots of fun.

About

Born and raised in Glasgow, Ema spent ten years living in Russia and that’s where she discovered the magic of yoga with her teacher Oleg Gladkih.
Ema is passionate about the practice of yoga as a way to find harmony in our daily lives through building strength, connecting with the body and the breath, and knowing our own minds. Her teaching is informed by her practice of traditional mysore-style Ashtanga yoga and other vinyasa styles, Zen mindfulness, and her ongoing study of Yoga and Buddhist philosophy, as well as physical and subtle anatomy.
Ema’s classes are strong, intelligent, and fun, encouraging practitioners to find their strength and their edge in an encouraging environment.
Originally trained in languages and filmmaking, apart from doing yoga Ema spends her time cooking fancy vegan meals, playing in the park with her pup, and making photos and videos.

Whenever I am feeling a little 😳 and overfed (yogi gingerbread cookies, anyone?) this is my go-to reset. Oatmeal for brekkie, Kitchari for lunch and dinner, plus fruit and nuts for snacks. No sugar or anything although I've allowed myself a bit of caffeine as I'm spending mad hours at my desk planning loads of goodies for a wee retreat I'm leading this weekend πŸ™Œ

  • 🍌 My new favourite yoga pose 🍌
My husband asked yesterday if the weirdness of a yoga pose correlates to its usefulness. He was joking of course (finding me again doing strange shapes in the kitchen) but actually it's true - what is 'weird' for your body is what you don't usually do - so by taking the body into new and unfamiliar places we can give attention to corners that don't usually get enough love.

I am integrating more yin into my practice and as a strong vinyasin and ashtangi I am really benefiting from targeting the yin tissues (fascia and joints) rather than all that yang muscle.

Yesterday was the only sunny day this week and we are so so grateful. The thing about nature is the very fact that it's so Real. Unpredictable, inescapable, out in the real world man stops being the boss and Mother Nature calls the shots.
This is why it's so useful to take ourselves outside - to reconnect to the fragrant soil, the sweet waters, the gleaming skies.
Not only that, Parkasana is about community. We get dirty feet together, we break bread together and we laugh together.
