I feel so safe in queer spaces - I have found them to be the most open-minded, nourishing, supportive, and caring places to be, and they’ve played a vital role in my own journey of self-acceptance and self-love.
Yoga is the most beautiful and powerful practice of connecting to ourselves, cultivating courage and self-knowledge. What if we brought together the Queer view that dismantles rigid structures of thought and ways of being, and the deep presence and care that yoga gives us?
For me yoga already does this, and I wanted to create a space where the inclusivity of queerness and the modalities and practices of yoga could live together.

First of all, queer yoga is a safe space. You come as you are. All bodies are welcome - all genders, all sizes, all physical abilities.
All my classes are trauma-informed, and I strive to support each individual in finding a practice that works for them, how they are today.
Queer yoga is about feeling into our bodies as they are. There are no expectations of adhering to social or aesthetic norms. This means we can be free to have a dialogue with our own physical, mental and spiritual space, and cultivate deep self-knowledge and self-acceptance.
The philosophical texts of yoga celebrate non-duality, and help us to see past the binaries of our society. Queer yoga celebrates emergence, transformation, and expansiveness. The philosophy of yoga can be deeply affirming, as we see ourselves in our luminous humanity, beyond norms of gender, social roles and structures.

Hello! My name is Ema, I use she/they pronouns. I got serious about yoga back in 2013 and have been teaching in Glasgow since 2018.
Yoga has been a huge part of my life for more than a decade, and a great source of joy and growth as well as an invaluable support through the challenges I’ve encountered in my life.
Yoga played a vital role in my coming out journey. It helps me to understand the difference between how I’m ‘supposed’ to be, and how I really am.
I love studying queer theory and yoga philosophy and together these two frameworks inspire me to see past the arbitrary norms and structures that are projected onto us, and to fearlessly express my own authenticity as a passionate human, driven to fight for what’s right in the world.
In my teaching, I’m increasingly motivated to create real inclusivity which means seeing people as they really are, offering practices that support their individual bodies, and also sharing how the teachings of yoga can liberate us from oppressive social norms. I believe a deep connection with our innate capacity for compassion and presence can help us to deconstruct systemic justice to allow every human to thrive both individually and in community.

Queer joy is radical self acceptance
It is questioning, reflection, feeling into what is Real
It is discernment, and seeing through social norms
It is feeling your body as a home, not as others want it to look or be, but how it is
It is celebrating love
It is self expression, joyful and exuberant!
It is dancing along the waves of fluidity, feeling expansive and full of movement
