atha tattva-darśanābhyupāyo yogaḥ -
Yoga is the direct means to perceive reality

an ancient tradition to make sense of a modern world

Yoga philosophy provides so much grounding and guidance in both the small and big questions of our everyday lives.
I am passionate about sharing the wisdom of the yogic teachings in an accessible, modern and practical way.

My Philosophy Offerings:

Teacher Trainings

I have been teaching yoga philosophy on teacher trainings since 2021. If you’re looking for modern, rigorously researched, human explorations of yoga philosophy for modern practitioners and teachers, get in touch if you’d like to learn more about what I can offer your course.

Courses

I offer regular weekend courses which give space for a deeper dive into the central texts of yoga philosophy. See below for the latest courses coming up.

Philosophy Club

I believe yoga philosophy should be as accessible as physical āsana classes. That’s why I hold a monthly Philosophy Club in person at Merchant City Yoga where we meet to discuss and explore themes of yoga philosophy in a down to earth way. Learn more below.

Online Study

Coming in 2024 - both on-demand online yoga philosophy courses, as well as regular online live sessions for chat, discussion and exploration of yoga texts and the themes they present.
In the meantime, be sure to check out my short and sweet youtube videos demystifying common themes and questions of yoga philosophy.

The world is such a big and complicated place, full of discord, confusion, stress and conflict - and it feels more and more challenging to try and find our place in it, to understand ourselves and how we should be, what we should do.

The Bhagavad Gītā is such a beautiful text, whose teachings go far beyond prescriptions or abstract philosophies - it is a song which penetrates deep into the human heart and gives us the inspiration and courage to truly know ourselves.

This May I’m holding a four-week course diving into the teachings of the Gītā, and how it can help us to make sense of the world and ourselves.

Living In the World:

Practical Teachings from the

Bhagavad-Gītā

If you’d like to learn more about why the Gita is so relevant for modern humans and practitioners and teachers of yoga, as well as how we’re going to approach the study in this four-week course, watch my Chai Session with Judi of Merchant City Yoga here!

Philosophy Club

A rich, modern, informal space to explore yoga philosophy in a way that is practical, heart driven and community led.

So often the only way to learn about yoga philosophy is in dry academic books, expensive courses or as part of a full yoga teacher training. In philosophy club we approach the yoga teachings as a pragmatic, human and grounded system of practice that helps us to live better here and now.

The sessions take the form of group discussion on the topic of the day. No prior reading is required as handouts will be provided and we'll explore the material together by questioning, unpacking, discussing and sharing - what we feel, what we wonder, what makes sense and what doesn’t.

Once a month, in person, at Merchant City Yoga.
